CloudCheckr helps nonprofit reduce cloud costs and manage multiple accounts

Best Friends Animal Society, a national animal welfare nonprofit, needed clearer visibility into its growing AWS environment to cut costs, improve security, and simplify troubleshooting across multiple accounts. To meet those challenges the organization turned to CloudCheckr CMx (CloudCheckr), now part of Spot by NetApp, to track spending, enforce security best practices, and consolidate reporting across dozens of AWS accounts.

Using CloudCheckr’s cost-management and security tools from Spot by NetApp, Best Friends identified overprovisioned EC2 instances, a costly S3 Glacier bucket (reduced from ~$4–5K/month to ~$800), and opportunities to power down or right-size resources. The implementation delivered nearly $20,000 in monthly savings (about a 30% reduction across 18 AWS accounts), faster troubleshooting via centralized alerts and tagging, and stronger security posture supported by onboarding and TAM services from Spot by NetApp.
