Software giant chooses Palette and CloudCasa to replace VMware for K8s management

The customer, a US-based enterprise software company, faced a critical challenge when Broadcom's acquisition of VMware led to drastic price increases for its Tanzu and vSphere products. This triggered an urgent mandate to reduce its VMware footprint and find a new, cost-effective Kubernetes management platform that could ensure rock-solid availability and performance for its critical CI/CD and testing services, all while supporting future multi-cloud expansion. The vendor Spectro Cloud, with its Palette platform, was engaged to address this challenge.

Spectro Cloud implemented its Palette platform to fully replace VMware Tanzu, managing the customer's 28 on-prem Kubernetes clusters. For sophisticated data protection, the solution integrated CloudCasa from Catalogic to replace the native Velero tool, providing robust backup, disaster recovery, and future support for virtual machines. The results were a successful migration with no developer downtime and the avoidance of costly VMware renewals. The customer was so satisfied that it immediately signed a new contract to use Palette for Azure deployments and is now planning to migrate approximately 500 VM workloads to Kubernetes using Palette's Virtual Machine Orchestrator, protected by CloudCasa.
