Hitachi Rail Europe, a global railway system supplier with 4 sites and 2,300+ employees, needed a simple, hardware-agnostic room booking and visitor management solution that required little or no training. Hitachi engaged Cloudbooking to replace inflexible Exchange bookings and reduce the reception team’s workload by providing a user-friendly, easily deployable system that could integrate with existing onsite Android tablets.

Cloudbooking implemented its meeting-room and visitor-management suite (CBPortal, CBScreen digital signage and CBReception) via an API to existing tablets, plus mobile and Outlook integrations, and later added desk booking and car-park management. The Cloudbooking solution eliminated booking clashes (reduced to 0), dramatically cut no-shows, lowered project costs by reusing Android tablets, was deployed with no impact on internal IT, and enabled staff to adopt more agile working—with rollouts continuing to additional sites.
