Blackboard, a global provider of learning and education software, faced slow, fragmented server provisioning built on a complex integration of vCloud Orchestrator, Chef and a ticketing system, which created long turnaround times, weak governance and poor cost visibility. To modernize their hybrid cloud operations they engaged CloudBolt Software and deployed the CloudBolt platform to unify provisioning, orchestration and self‑service for internal and hosted customers.
CloudBolt Software discovered Blackboard’s existing servers and integrated with Chef, vCenter/vCloud Orchestrator, InfoBlox and ServiceNow, exposing environments via a self‑service UI and API, adding policies, quotas, license tracking and Continuous Infrastructure Testing. The result: VM provisioning dropped from one business day to about 15 minutes and new client onboarding fell from seven days to under 30 minutes, with faster time‑to‑value (core functionality in ~2.5 days), lower OpEx, improved chargeback/cost transparency and better margin reporting.
