Somos, the neutral registry for North American toll‑free numbers, relied on a small DevOps team to support CI/CD across legacy mainframe systems and a migrating on‑prem/AWS environment. The migration made deployments error‑prone, nonrepeatable and labor‑intensive—often consuming a weekend and an army of engineers—so the team needed a technology‑agnostic, future‑proof way to automate complex releases.
Working with CloudBees Flow and vendor partners, Somos built layered application models and automated pipelines that accommodated both on‑prem and cloud environments. The result: deployments shrank from as long as three days to under two hours, staffing for a release fell from about 30 people to five, daily builds rose to 20–50, breakages and help‑desk load dropped, and developers were freed to focus on new features instead of weekend deployments.
