Case Study: Hemnet migrates to the cloud with CloudAMQP and RabbitMQ

Hemnet, Sweden’s leading online property platform, needed to move from a full on-premises setup to the cloud so it could scale more easily and empower developers to make infrastructure changes faster. As part of that migration, the company also wanted to outsource key services like databases and message queues, and it chose CloudAMQP’s managed RabbitMQ service to support the transition.

CloudAMQP provided RabbitMQ hosted in a private AWS VPC, giving Hemnet the managed messaging layer it needed to move services one at a time without losing data. With RabbitMQ buffering messages while consumers were moved, Hemnet completed the migration to AWS and cloud-hosted Docker-based services in less than 9 months, finishing in January 2018, while handling traffic around 400 messages per second.
