A Cloud4Wi Case Study

Preview of the Gruppo FS Italiane Case Study

How Gruppo FS Italiane redefines Italian rail traveler WiFi

Gruppo FS Italiane, Italy’s national rail group, needed to transform stations into “smart” hubs by providing fast, easy guest WiFi, location-based services and visitor insights to meet growing traveler expectations. After an extensive search the company selected Cloud4Wi’s cloud-based product suite (including the Virtual Portal Station) to deliver a scalable, open guest‑WiFi and engagement platform that could integrate with existing partners and hardware.

Cloud4Wi’s solution—deployed with Cisco Meraki hardware and system integrator Almaviva—delivered quick-login WiFi, a multilingual virtual portal, location-aware travel tools and anonymous, aggregated visitor analytics for station stakeholders. Launched May 2015, the Wi-Life Station service is active in 46 stations, has more than 1.3 million opted‑in user profiles and over 2.3 million connections, earned industry recognition and is being rolled out nationally, providing tangible improvements in customer experience and actionable data for Gruppo FS Italiane.
