Ocean State Job Lot Finds Value in the Cloud with Chrome

Ocean State Job Lot, a growing retail chain, needed to replace aging Windows laptops for field teams while improving security and mobile usability. The company also wanted a more modern, cloud-based approach for users who worked across public networks and needed better manageability. It turned to Cloud Sherpas and Chrome OS devices as part of its broader Google Apps for Work environment.

Cloud Sherpas helped Ocean State Job Lot migrate content to Drive and Sites, then roll out Chromebooks and Chromeboxes with centralized Chrome management. The results included faster boot times, lighter and more portable devices, improved security with no local data storage, and lower total cost of ownership. The retailer has since deployed Chromeboxes in about 20 stores and plans to expand to all 116 stores, with users adopting the devices quickly and requesting them over traditional laptops.
