Virtualisation firm helps local authority move from ageing tech to modern infrastructure

Bath and North East Somerset Council faced the challenge of modernizing its aging Windows XP environment and outdated hardware while enabling a more flexible way of working. The council turned to Cloud Pro, using Citrix-based virtualization technology, to refresh its IT and support secure access for its 2,500 employees.

Cloud Pro implemented a solution built around Citrix XenDesktop, Citrix XenApp, Microsoft App-V, and Atlantis Computing ILIO on the council’s own servers, with NetScaler Unified Gateway for remote access. The results included nearly two-thirds of staff signing up to work remotely, around 400,000 fewer business miles per year, and expected annual energy savings of about £250,000, while also improving productivity and flexibility.
