Siemens calls in Syncplicity for mammoth collaboration project

Siemens Healthineers, as part of its digital transformation, needed a modern way to support enterprise collaboration across 330,000 employees in 150 countries. Its existing mix of small datacentres and file servers could not handle the scale or flexibility required, so it looked to Cloud Pro’s Syncplicity file sync and share solution.

Cloud Pro’s Syncplicity helped Siemens Healthineers consolidate three petabytes of data into a private cloud built on four global datacentres running EMC Elastic Cloud Storage, creating its SmartStorage platform. The rollout centralized home directories, group file shares, and personal data, improving manageability and reducing storage costs from about $1/GB/month to under 10¢/GB/month.
