Netflix completes seven-year migration to AWS

Netflix faced a major challenge after a database error caused a three-day disruption to its DVD rental business, prompting a move from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud. Working with Cloud Pro and AWS, Netflix began a long migration in 2008 and had to make difficult architectural choices to rebuild its systems for cloud use.

Cloud Pro helped support a full cloud-native transformation, including a shift from a monolithic application to hundreds of microservices, NoSQL databases, and a continuous delivery DevOps model. The results were significant: Netflix completed its seven-year migration, gained the ability to scale thousands of virtual servers and petabytes of storage in minutes, reduced costs, and grew streaming subscribers by 800% since the transition began.
