Leading law firm RPC makes the case for cloud move

Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP (RPC), a leading law firm, was preparing for a future move to cloud but first needed to modernize its data centre. Its challenge was to consolidate servers, reduce electricity costs, and choose the right virtualization and infrastructure stack, leading it to evaluate options including VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, HP, IBM and Cisco, with Cloud Pro involved in covering the move.

Cloud Pro reports that RPC implemented VMware virtualization on HP BladeMatrix servers to support VMware and SQL Server, creating a private cloud-based data centre as an intermediate step toward full cloud adoption. The solution improved management capability and was better suited to RPC’s size, helping the firm streamline its environment and lower power usage through server consolidation.
