Conservation International uses big data analytics to help the environment

Hewlett Packard customer Conservation International faced a massive data challenge, with huge biodiversity databases containing more than 200 million images and years of rainforest, climate, and land-use records that were difficult to analyze. Extracting actionable insights and processing the data had previously taken weeks or even months.

Cloud Pro, using the HP Vertica analytics platform, helped Conservation International speed up database analysis and make prediction and correlation data easier to uncover. Processing times were cut from weeks and months to hours and days, enabling near real-time insight into species and ecosystem data with a major impact on scientific decision-making.
