Essex County Council faced major connectivity challenges as a rural authority, with much of the county operating on very limited broadband, making it difficult to deliver services beyond its Chelmsford HQ. Under CIO David Wilde, the council also needed a practical cloud strategy that could streamline services while avoiding bandwidth-heavy systems. Cloud Pro supported this shift, including the move to cloud-based services such as payroll and a CRM platform.
Cloud Pro helped Essex County Council adopt cloud computing to overcome rural bandwidth constraints and improve service delivery, including a cloud-based CRM system for citizen engagement using KANA Lagan. The council was able to move key services into the cloud and streamline operations, with payroll being an early, low-risk success. This helped Essex advance its digital transformation while maintaining performance in low-connectivity areas.
