A Cloud Pro Case Study
BBC Worldwide faced growing pressure on iPlayer as mobile viewing surged and major events like the Olympics created huge spikes in demand. Its older on-premises infrastructure was running into storage, disk I/O, and network limits, making it hard to scale efficiently. BBC Worldwide turned to Cloud Pro for a cloud-based approach to video transcoding and content delivery.
Cloud Pro helped implement the Video Factory project, moving transcoding to the cloud to improve scalability, reliability, and cost visibility. The new setup reduced bottlenecks and single points of failure, allowing BBC Worldwide to handle higher content volumes and demand more flexibly. This cloud-based solution helped power BBC iPlayer’s massive usage, including 36.5 billion minutes of content served in 2012.
