Ygrene Using cloud native to bring security and scalability to the finance industry

Ygrene, a Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing company, faced significant challenges with scalability, security, and system stability. Their existing infrastructure could not handle the real-time processing of vast amounts of underwriting data, leading to an overwhelmed and unstable system. This created a critical need for a secure and scalable solution to support their financial services operations.

To address this, Ygrene worked with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation and adopted several cloud native technologies, including Kubernetes for scaling and distributing workloads, Notary for securing Docker images, and Fluentd for observability. This solution, run on Amazon EC2 Spot, allowed them to cut Kubernetes deployment times from hours to just five minutes and overall deployments to an hour. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation's technology also enabled Ygrene to deploy new code three to four times a week without downtime and run their Kubernetes clusters at a tenth of the previous cost.
