With Kubernetes, China Minsheng Bank transformed its legacy applications—and moved into AI, blockchain, and big data

China Minsheng Bank, a financial institution, faced the challenge of modernizing its legacy C and Java applications to become more adaptable, efficient, and cost-effective in a cloud native environment. Their goal was to move away from expensive virtual machines with low resource utilization. To address this, they worked with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation ecosystem and adopted a Kubernetes platform through Alibaba Cloud Container Service for Kubernetes.

The solution involved breaking down the bank's legacy applications into microservices and developing new AI, blockchain, and big data applications on the Kubernetes platform. With the help of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation technology, the bank achieved a 3-4x increase in development and operational efficiency, more than doubled resource utilization, and cut deployment times from hours to minutes.
