Wink Cloud native infrastructure keeps your smart home connected

Wink, a smart home technology company, needed to build a low-latency and highly reliable infrastructure to manage communications between millions of connected devices and its consumer hubs and mobile app. Their challenge emphasized horizontal scalability, fast encryption, and resilient connections. To address this, they worked with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation ecosystem, adopting a cloud native stack.

The solution implemented using Cloud Native Computing Foundation technologies was a unified Kubernetes-Docker-CoreOS Container Linux stack. This provided the portability, scalability, and reliability Wink required. The impact was significant, with 80% of their workload running on Kubernetes, enabling them to control 2.3 million devices and achieve latencies as low as 10 milliseconds for many operations, supporting their products in major retail stores.
