Powering digital loyalty transactions of some of the biggest banks in the UK with Linkerd

Bink, a UK-based fintech company, faced significant challenges with their in-house Kubernetes platform, which suffered from an unstable networking infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. This instability resulted in random TCP disconnects and other network faults that threatened the reliability of their digital loyalty transaction service. To address this, they turned to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation project Linkerd for a solution.

By implementing the Linkerd service mesh, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation provided Bink with the tooling to manage connection and retry logic, which immediately mitigated the underlying Azure network instabilities. The results were profound: network faults disappeared, allowing Bink to confidently commit to a strict, success-rate-based SLA with Barclays. A team of just three now manages a platform supporting over 500,000 users, with Linkerd enabling them to monitor internal SLOs for 99.9% uptime.
