A Cloud Native Computing Foundation Case Study
Nokia, a global telecom company, faced the challenge of needing to deliver its software to numerous operators, each with a different infrastructure (bare metal, VMware, OpenStack), without having to change the product itself for each one. This requirement for infrastructure-agnostic behavior led them to partner with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation and adopt Kubernetes.
The solution implemented using CNCF's Kubernetes provided the infrastructure abstraction Nokia required, enabling them to run the same software on any environment. This shift to a cloud native approach saved Nokia several hundred hours with every software release by simplifying testing and reducing dependencies, and it was crucial for enabling their foray into developing new 5G products.
