G Data CyberDefense, a German cybersecurity software company, faced challenges with network policy visibility and performance using Calico for their Kubernetes platform. They needed a solution that provided better enforcement capabilities and leveraged eBPF technology. This led them to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation's project, Cilium.
The Cloud Native Computing Foundation's Cilium provided the necessary networking, security, and observability, significantly improving G Data's visibility and security posture. The implementation, which includes Hubble for monitoring, also created a self-service platform for developers, speeding up their development process and boosting productivity. The company now runs Cilium on about 25 clusters across their multi-cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
