Leveraging OpenFunction to archive automotive data

UISEE, a leading autonomous vehicle company in China, faced the challenge of managing massive and diverse automotive data for archiving. Their existing systems struggled with varying storage requirements, fluctuating data volumes, and the need to combine synchronous and asynchronous processing. Seeking to improve data workflows and resource utilization, they turned to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation's open-source project, OpenFunction, for a serverless solution.

By leveraging the Cloud Native Computing Foundation's OpenFunction, UISEE built a flexible data archiving system that uses sync functions for task distribution and async functions for storage operations. This solution decoupled their backend services, improved development agility by allowing the use of multiple programming languages, and reduced boilerplate code. The result was a more efficient and observable business workflow where technical teams could focus on business logic rather than infrastructure, significantly minimizing resource costs through scale-to-zero capabilities.
