A Cloud Native Computing Foundation Case Study
InfluxData needed to deliver its time series database as a highly available, multi-cloud service without the extreme overhead of building and maintaining separate application versions for each cloud provider. Their challenge was to eliminate the latency and cost of moving data for their developers' customers while also streamlining their own internal software development and deployment processes.
By leveraging the Cloud Native Computing Foundation's Kubernetes, InfluxData created a cloud abstraction layer. This solution from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation enabled the deployment of a single application across multiple regions on AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. The results were dramatic: deployment time for a new cloud region was reduced from one month to two days, and a code change can now be deployed in under three hours. This accelerated global availability, boosted developer productivity, and eliminated the need to maintain multiple code bases.
