How Seagate runs Real-time Analytics at the Edge

Seagate, a global data storage provider, faced the challenge of automating its global factory operations at an immense scale to keep pace with the predicted growth of global data creation. To manage this complexity and improve quality control, they partnered with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).

The solution, developed in-house and powered by CNCF projects including Kubernetes and Prometheus, was the edgeRX platform. This established real-time analytics at the edge using machine learning, fundamentally advancing operations. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation's technology enabled Seagate to process three million high-res images daily for quality control, leading to a major return on investment, improved product quality, and faster time-to-value for customers.
