Case Study: Lunar achieves secure multi-cloud resilience and centralized platform operations with CNCF projects and Linkerd

A Cloud Native Computing Foundation Case Study

Preview of the Lunar Case Study

How Kubernetes and Linkerd became Lunar's multi-cloud communication backbone

Lunar, a Scandinavian online bank, faced challenges with disaster recovery and managing its 250+ microservices across three clouds after a test revealed logs could be lost during a failover. This prompted a need for a more robust way to manage its platform services. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation's project, Linkerd, was implemented to help address multi-cluster communication, gRPC load balancing, and security.

By centralizing its platform services and using Linkerd to seamlessly connect its nine Kubernetes clusters, Lunar created a multi-cloud communication backbone. The solution from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation resulted in the bank being fully prepared for disaster recovery, a significant increase in developer productivity, and the newfound ability to easily integrate with newly acquired startups, all while maintaining regulatory compliance.
