Case Study: DENSO accelerates vehicle-edge innovation with CNCF Kubernetes

A Cloud Native Computing Foundation Case Study

Preview of the Denso Case Study

How DENSO is fueling development on the vehicle edge with Kubernetes

Denso, a major global automotive components supplier, sought to expand into software for connected cars but faced significant challenges. Their Digital Innovation Department needed to create a flexible, integrated vehicle edge and cloud platform to overcome issues like limited computing resources, spotty mobile signals, and managing a vast number of distributed vehicles. They turned to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation ecosystem for a solution.

By adopting Kubernetes and other cloud native technologies from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Denso built a unified platform. This solution leveraged managed services like GKE, EKS, and AKS, resulting in a dramatic increase in development velocity. The time to release non-critical applications dropped to a two-month cycle, enabling the release of ten new applications per year and the introduction of a new prototype every week, all while simplifying maintenance operations.
