Allianz Direct, a digital-first European insurance company, faced significant agility and extensibility challenges with its outdated CI/CD pipeline, which it did not own or fully control. The legacy system, hampered by complexity and high coupling, made code and configuration changes slow and troubleshooting difficult, hindering the company's ability to respond rapidly to market demands. This prompted them to partner with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).

By leveraging a suite of CNCF projects including Tekton and Argo CD, the vendor provided the core technologies for Allianz Direct to redesign its entire pipeline. The solution condensed the release process from 200 workflows to just 10-15 and dramatically reduced configuration change times from half an hour to one minute. This new, owned pipeline accelerated software releases, increased team collaboration, and allowed Allianz Direct to spread its cloud native mindset throughout the larger Allianz Group.
