Case Study: Sterlite Technologies achieves faster, portable telecom software delivery with CNCF Kubernetes

A Cloud Native Computing Foundation Case Study

Preview of the Sterlite Technologies Case Study

How cloud native is enabling STL to ‘build once and run anywhere’ to supply telecom operators worldwide

Sterlite Technologies (STL), a global supplier of telecom software, faced significant challenges due to its need to customize and deploy products across diverse customer infrastructures, from bare metal to public clouds. This resulted in a slow 15-18 month delivery cycle and 3-5 day deployment times. To address this, STL partnered with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation ecosystem to adopt a "build once and run anywhere" strategy using cloud native technologies, primarily Kubernetes.

By implementing Kubernetes orchestration from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, STL modernized its entire product portfolio into cloud native network functions (CNFs). This solution reduced the overall delivery cycle by 70%, slashing it from 18 months to 6 months, and cut deployment times from several days to just a couple of hours through complete automation. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation's technology also provided the infrastructure-agnostic portability STL needed to serve its global telecom operators.
