A Cloud Native Computing Foundation Case Study
Babylon, a healthcare company, faced a challenge in 2019 when it lacked the in-house computing power to run critical AI experiments. The company's rapid growth and plans for international expansion further complicated its infrastructure needs. To address this, Babylon turned to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation ecosystem, utilizing the Kubeflow toolkit to orchestrate its machine learning workloads on its existing Kubernetes platform.
The Cloud Native Computing Foundation solution enabled Babylon to build a portable, self-service AI training platform. This resulted in dramatic improvements: access to compute resources became instantaneous, and the time required for clinical validations dropped from 10 hours to under 20 minutes. The portability of the cloud native platform also directly supported Babylon's successful expansion into new countries like Canada and Asia.
