Case Study: At-Bay improves microservices operations with Dapr from CNCF

A Cloud Native Computing Foundation Case Study

Preview of the At-Bay Case Study

How At-Bay improved operations with Dapr

At-Bay, a fast-growing cyber insurance startup, faced the challenge of managing the complicated, multi-step process of creating insurance policies. They wanted to improve operations by using asynchronous, message-based communication while transitioning to a microservices architecture on AWS. They sought a solution that was cloud-agnostic, reduced code maintenance, and provided robust traceability, leading them to the vendor Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and its open-source project, Dapr (Distributed Application Runtime).

The solution implemented by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation's Dapr provided the necessary APIs to simplify microservice connectivity through a sidecar container architecture. This allowed At-Bay to become message-broker agnostic and to bridge the gap between local development and cloud deployment with minimal code changes. The results included a drastic increase in system visibility and traceability at the message level, the saving of thousands of lines of code for integrations, and the deployment of 30% of their services with Dapr within just six months.
