GolfNow Saving time and money with cloud native infrastructure

GolfNow, a technology and services company within the NBC Sports Group and the world's largest golf tee time marketplace, faced significant challenges with its monolithic application as the business expanded. Their infrastructure costs were growing exponentially due to vertical scaling, and building a disaster recovery site would have doubled those expenses. To support global growth and gain efficiency, they turned to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation's ecosystem, specifically adopting Docker and Kubernetes.

By implementing a cloud native infrastructure using Kubernetes on Google Compute Engine, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation's technology enabled GolfNow to migrate applications to a containerized environment. The results were immediate and substantial: infrastructure costs for their first migrated application were cut in half while maintaining the same capacity. The solution also provided incredible operational agility, allowing the team to migrate applications between clusters in under 30 seconds and achieve a production-ready environment in just three months.
