Preview of the Fidelity Investments Case Study

Fidelity Investments’ developers release 20x more frequently with multi-cloud strategy

Fidelity Investments, one of the world's largest financial services companies, faced a challenge in its digital transformation: migrating thousands of critical, highly-regulated applications to a multi-cloud environment while increasing speed to market. To address scalability and velocity issues, they partnered with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and adopted a cloud native platform built on Kubernetes and other CNCF technologies.

The solution implemented with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation involved building a multi-level platform, the Fidelity Cloud Fabric, which leveraged multiple CNCF projects like Kubernetes, Open Policy Agent, and Helm for orchestration, policy management, and packaging. This resulted in developers releasing 20x more frequently, while the time to deploy to production was reduced from several days to just minutes. The company also achieved significant cloud portability, with migrations between providers now taking hours instead of months.
