Case Study: Amadeus achieves multi-data-center cloud-native scalability with CNCF Kubernetes and OpenShift

A Cloud Native Computing Foundation Case Study

Preview of the Amadeus Case Study

Amadeus Another technical evolution for a 30-year-old company

Amadeus, a major provider of IT solutions to the global travel industry, faced the challenge of needing a new platform for its 5,000 services. Its goals were to increase infrastructure automation, optimize workloads, use resources more efficiently, and more easily adopt new technologies, which its existing service-oriented architecture could not support. This led them to seek a solution from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation ecosystem.

The company implemented a cloud native solution using Kubernetes via the OpenShift Container Platform from Red Hat. This new platform enabled the successful deployment of a new, high-performance application, Amadeus Airline Cloud Availability, which handles several thousand transactions per second across multiple global data centers. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation's technology provided Amadeus with the automation and scalability it needed to access new market opportunities that were previously unavailable.
