The customer, Puthiya Thalaimurai TV, a media powerhouse, faced challenges with its on-premise data center infrastructure. Their news portal had issues scaling during flash news events, leading to crashes with high concurrent users, delayed content streaming, and a non-optimized design. They engaged vendor Cloud Kinetics for a portal migration to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to resolve these problems.

Cloud Kinetics implemented a two-stage solution, decoupling the portal's layers and migrating them to the cloud. The solution included optimized storage, a revamped streaming mechanism, and enabling auto-scaling. The vendor also provided performance tuning and worked with the app vendor to re-architect the application for the cloud. The results were significant, with the portal successfully handling over 41,000 concurrent users and serving 18 million requests in a single day during a general election, leading to a fourfold growth in footfalls over six months.
