Migration from On-premise to AWS Cloud with CloudFront News Media

Broadcasting & Media Production Company, a Tamil news VOD and flash news provider in India, wanted to increase revenue through customized ad-serving, maintain uninterrupted service during peak demand, and improve Alexa ranking. Cloud Kinetics helped the customer modernize its delivery platform using AWS CloudFront as part of a move from an on-premise/Akamai-based setup to the cloud.

Cloud Kinetics implemented a multi-distribution AWS architecture with CloudFront routing application traffic through an ELB to auto-scaled PHP applications on EC2, backed by MySQL RDS with read replicas, plus additional CloudFront distributions for VOD content and images from S3. The result was smoother user experience, reduced downtime, improved ad revenue and retention, and the ability to sustain the Tamil Nadu election season without disruption, with measurable gains including a 20% increase in footfalls, 2x improvement in content rendering, and 250% improvement in user retention.
