Swiss Re migrates 50+ apps with Cloud Foundry for a multi-cloud future

Swiss Re, a leading global reinsurer, faced the challenge of modernizing its IT infrastructure to accelerate application delivery and transform its IT function into a more strategic, service-oriented asset for the business. To fuel this IT transformation, the company sought a modern Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution that could support its vision for a multi-cloud, hybrid future.

The solution implemented was Cloud Foundry, chosen for its open foundation that prevents vendor lock-in. Swiss Re partnered with Swisscom to use its Cloud Foundry-based Virtual Private Application Cloud. This has enabled the migration of applications with minimal refactoring, drastically reducing deployment times from days to minutes. The result is a faster, more standardized delivery process, with over 50 applications already in migration and plans to move more than 400 Java applications to the new platform.
