Rijkswaterstaat deploys 15 apps in 18 months with Cloud Foundry

Rijkswaterstaat (RWS), the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, needed to efficiently manage the country's vast physical infrastructure and connect various government functions. They chose the Cloud Foundry platform, specifically utilizing the Mendix rapid application development service powered by VMware Cloud Foundry, to address this challenge.

Using Cloud Foundry, RWS developed and deployed 15 applications in just 18 months. This solution automated processes and created a connected ecosystem, which resulted in significantly faster development times, increased participation from both business and IT teams, and a reduction in costs. The key application, a case management system called SAM, now handles hundreds of daily alerts and questions, allowing tasks to be handled much more quickly.
