Rabobank Migrates Massive Portal to Cloud Foundry and Microservices

Rabobank, the third-largest bank in the Netherlands, needed to modernize its aging WebSphere-based portal as digital demands grew. Although it had long been an early adopter of online banking, its existing platform was reaching scalability limits, making it difficult to add new applications and support a stronger DevOps model.

Using Cloud Foundry, including VMware Cloud Foundry/PCF, Rabobank migrated toward a microservices architecture and public cloud deployment with Azure. The new platform lets around 300 DevOps teams focus on apps rather than infrastructure, while just three people manage the platform; the old environment would have needed 60 to 70 additional staff to support that scale.
