Cloud.gov Cuts Through Bureaucracy to Speed Up Digital Transformation

Cloud.gov, the U.S. government’s secure cloud platform for federal agencies, faced a major challenge: helping teams deploy non-sensitive digital services faster without getting bogged down in lengthy compliance and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes. Working through Cloud Foundry’s platform ecosystem, the customer needed a way to speed up cloud deployments while meeting strict federal security and regulatory requirements.

Cloud Foundry helped enable Cloud.gov as an open source, fully compliant PaaS with built-in support for FISMA and ATO documentation, reducing the burden on developers and compliance teams. The result was a faster, more user-centric way for agencies to deliver services, with compliance becoming more lightweight and incremental. While the case study doesn’t cite a single quantitative outcome, it highlights that Cloud.gov cut deployment delays that traditionally took six to 14 months and improved agility, security, and developer morale.
