Amgen - Customer Case Study

Amgen, pursuing aggressive 2020 carbon-reduction targets, needed to make its energy management more data-centric and extend fault detection & diagnostic (FDD) analytics beyond offices and labs into manufacturing. To do this as part of its Smart and Integrated Facilities (SAIF) program, Amgen adopted Clockworks Analytics’ FDD/EMIS solution (deployed as KGS Clockworks) to pull near‑real‑time data from its most energy‑intensive systems and surface prioritized improvement opportunities.

Clockworks Analytics implemented continuous FDD across chilled water, cooling towers, boilers, HVAC, compressed air, water treatment and other systems, integrated with Amgen’s remote monitoring center and two full‑time engineers for monitoring, diagnosis and follow‑up. The program—backed by weekly site reviews, reporting and an opportunity log—helped Amgen achieve measurable impacts including about 5% whole‑facility energy savings (reported at three locations), coverage of 6.5 million sq ft across six campuses, national recognition from LBNL/DOE, and expansion of analytics into WWTP operations.
