A Clio Case Study
The Legal Aid Society of Story County, a nonprofit founded in 1974 with a small team of 6–10 staff, faced constant demand for free civil legal services, inefficient intake and billing processes, and limited visibility into funder allocations—resulting in time “leakage” and long client waitlists. Executive director Peggy Michelotti sought technology to streamline workflows and improve real-time financial oversight so the office could serve more people without adding staff.
By fully adopting Clio’s suite—Clio Manage, Clio Grow, Clio Payments, and Clio for Legal Aid—and using document automation, time tracking, and a funding dashboard, the organization streamlined intake, sped billing and reconciliation, and gained real-time funding visibility. The result: a 15% increase in service capacity, 32 additional cases served, shorter wait times, and easier donor payments and reporting for staff and funders.
