A Clio Case Study
Laura MacInnis of the Family Violence Law Center in Oakland, a non-profit serving survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and stalking, struggled to get clients to sign court forms—an issue made acute by the pandemic. The center’s prior solution required ink signatures on printed paper, forcing in-person visits that slowed emergency filings and impeded their mission to provide rapid, low-barrier legal help.
The center adopted Clio Draft’s web-based court form and federally-compliant e-signature tools so attorneys can prepare pleadings and send documents for remote client signatures. The change eliminated office visits, sped emergency requests, improved document organization with client folders, provided access to 5,000+ court forms and Spanish translation, and reduced client burden—benefits the team plans to keep after the pandemic.
