The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, a luxury hotel owner and operator, sought to pivot its talent acquisition strategy during an industry-wide hiring freeze. The challenge, as presented to Director Lien Chu, was to build an alumni program from scratch to tap into former employees as a source of quality hires, aiming to increase alumni recruitment from 3% to 20% of all hires in a cost-effective manner. They partnered with vendor Clinch (PageUp) to find a technology solution for this recruitment marketing initiative.
Clinch implemented its Recruitment Marketing platform to create a branded portal for alumni, known as 'Forever Fans'. This solution provided a customizable landing page for engaging content and a powerful CRM tool to search the alumni database for specific roles. The result was a structured and cost-effective program that built a valuable talent pool, with the goal of significantly reducing recruitment and onboarding costs while increasing the percentage of hires from alumni.
