Vantage's Journey from Redshift and Postgres to ClickHouse

Vantage, a cloud cost optimization platform, needed a faster and more scalable analytics database as its customer data grew from Postgres limits into Redshift bottlenecks. Frequent deletes, updates, nightly report generation, and billions of records made its previous architecture expensive and operationally heavy, while still struggling to deliver the drill-down experience its UI required.

Vantage moved to ClickHouse Cloud and reworked ingestion using the ReplacingMergeTree engine with versioned imports, eliminating the need to constantly delete and reinsert data. With ClickHouse, Vantage cut operational overhead, improved performance, and reduced costs—doubling its ClickHouse resources at roughly the same price as its prior Redshift setup, while also keeping performance comparable to a well-indexed Postgres table.
