How SewerAI is using ClickHouse to modernize sewer management at scale

SewerAI, an underground infrastructure management platform, needed a faster way to analyze massive volumes of sewer inspection and operational data. The team used ClickHouse to power real-time analytics on billions of rows, but their Postgres-based system and many-table joins made it difficult to deliver answers quickly as data grew.

ClickHouse helped SewerAI ingest Postgres data through PeerDB and ClickPipes, then denormalize it into a large “Megatable” using materialized views and refreshable materialized views. With projections, dictionaries, smarter filtering, and query tuning, SewerAI tripled data volume and increased read/write operations tenfold over three months while keeping compute usage steady, eliminating failing updates and backlogs, and keeping analytics up to date.
