How Merkle Science fights crypto crime at scale with ClickHouse Cloud

Merkle Science, an AI-powered blockchain analytics and predictive risk platform, needed a way to keep up with rapidly growing on-chain data without being bogged down by infrastructure management. Running ClickHouse on their own had scaled into multiple clusters, ZooKeeper nodes, and VMs, creating operational overhead, storage concerns, and constant “infrastructure anxiety” for a lean data engineering team.

By migrating to ClickHouse Cloud, Merkle Science simplified scaling, improved developer productivity, and sped up data operations. ClickHouse helped cut large data-ingestion jobs from more than 20 engineer hours for 5 TB down to about 6–7 hours, while also enabling easier backups, smoother merges, faster feature testing, and stronger monitoring. Today, Merkle Science runs 130 TB of compressed data and more than 18 million queries per week on ClickHouse, with the confidence to scale far beyond current volumes.
