A Clickatell Case Study
The NHS, through the Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust, worked with Clickatell and 123 Consultants to improve how it shared health information and medical advice with more than 300,000 people. Its challenge was reaching people efficiently and privately on topics like diet, drugs, safe sex, and teen health, since traditional printed leaflets were costly and had very low reach.
Clickatell provided an SMS messaging solution that let people text keywords such as “stop smoking” to receive relevant, trusted health information directly on their phones. The result was over 90% audience reach at around 50–60% of the cost of leaflets, and the NHS reported 60% cost savings after launching the service with Clickatell.
