Assisting a satellite communications system with ATM notifications to banks in Tanzania

SatCom Networks Africa Ltd (SCNA) deployed an electronic funds transfer switch in Tanzania to connect multiple banks, but those banks needed a reliable way to receive ATM notifications—alerts for low cash, out-of-paper, power failures or suspected fraud—to avoid service disruptions and protect customers.

SCNA integrated Clickatell’s SMTP API (email-to-SMS) to deliver real-time SMS alerts to bank staff, enabling proactive response to ATM issues. The result was higher customer satisfaction and fewer service disruptions, and SCNA is now exploring SMS monitoring for other network devices.
