Clevest and Brunswick EMC See a New Way to Look at AMI Data

Brunswick EMC (BEMC), a progressive electric cooperative, faced a significant challenge in leveraging the vast amount of data generated by its new AMI system. The utility had access to extensive reports but lacked a way to visualize this information to quickly identify and respond to power issues like momentary outages and voltage irregularities. They partnered with vendor Clevest to address this data interpretation challenge.

Clevest developed its Smart Grid Visualization solution in collaboration with BEMC. This tool overlays real-time AMI data, such as outage alerts and voltage anomalies, onto a map-based platform integrated with the utility's GIS. This provided BEMC with a clear, spatial view of its distribution system, enabling proactive troubleshooting and faster response to problems. The solution helped increase the return on their AMI investment, improved service reliability for members, and enhanced safety for field crews. BEMC is also implementing Clevest's Automatic Vehicle Location to further optimize its operations.
