A CLEVER°FRANKE Case Study
Into The Great Wide Open, an annual music and arts festival held on Vlieland island, faced the challenge of creating a unique visual identity for its 2019 edition that embraced its theme of 'Possible Futures'. The festival's most unpredictable element, the weather, was a core part of the attendee experience but impossible to control. CLEVER°FRANKE was invited to collaborate with Studio Bas Koopmans to turn this uncontrollable factor into the foundation for a distinctive campaign.
CLEVER°FRANKE developed a data-driven solution by creating a custom poster generator that used historical weather data from the island to automatically determine the composition and elements of each design. This approach produced a variety of unique, artistic visuals that were harmonious with the festival's ethos. The resulting campaign was highly successful, earning prestigious awards including a Red Dot Design Award 'Best of the Best' and a European Design Award, highlighting the significant creative impact achieved by CLEVER°FRANKE.
